Matt Oddo

Founder & President

After graduating from Iowa State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business, Matt went to work for the Department of Agriculture in Athens, Georgia. He traveled around the southeastern part of the country and became a big fan of the people and the climate. In 1988, Matt went to work for the Brand Companies in Chicago. Brand, at that time, was the largest provider of asbestos abatement services in the country. Matt quickly acclimated to private sector work and within 2 years he rose to head estimator of Brand’s non-union division in Chicago. In 1990, Matt had the opportunity to move back south with Lang Engineering.He made his mark with Lang by developing their lead-based paint abatement services. Realizing the need for lead abatement services in the southeast, Matt formed Aegis Environmental, Inc. in 1994. The company quickly grew to tackle other contaminants found in buildings, including asbestos, mold, PCB’s and mercury.

Scott Leasure

General Manager

Scott Leasure came to Aegis as General Manager in 1997 through the Brand Companies, the largest abatement company in the world. At Brand, Scott managed an impressive list of highly visible projects including Gramercy Park in New York City, and was probably considered one of the most sought after estimator/project managers in the world when recruited by Aegis. Shortly after his arrival at Aegis, Scott began managing several functions, including estimating and project management. Scott provides the expertise needed to ensure optimal customer relations. He has a degree in business from the University of Illinois and has been involved in environmental contracting since 1987.

Barb Roth

Office Manager / Bookkeeper

After spending 18 years at home raising her family, Barb came on board as our Office Manager in August, 2008, and then assumed the bookkeeping responsibilities in May, 2009. Barb is the first impression of Aegis for anyone who calls. Her manner is amazingly pleasant and always projects a smile, competency and professionalism. She is the most proficient and accomplished multi-tasker we have ever witnessed. Her thoroughness and efficiency with which she outputs work is astounding. “We have never seen Barb overwhelmed or even flustered…ever,” Matt says. He also thought to mention that Barb is unavailable for recruitment. Barb graduated from Valparaiso University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Shane Tywater

Superintendent

Shane Tywater started working in the asbestos and lead industry in 1987 right out of high school. He has worked in 11 states on all types of projects including schools, churches, city-owned facilities, and all branches of the U.S. military. Shane has been a supervisor for 18 years and has worked over 2,500 men in his career. He came to Aegis in 2001, where he enjoys his work and the people he works with. Matt consistently receives positive feedback on jobs Shane has done.

Charles Oddo

Superintendent

Charlie Oddo came into the business as an abatement technician during school breaks in 2005. He was trained in the field under Shane Tywater and Chris Kirkland, exclusively. In the summer of 2009, Shane, Chris, and Scott agreed that Charlie was prepared to supervise his first project unassisted. Charlie brings to Aegis tireless energy, fresh ideas and reminds us that technological advances cannot be ignored. He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
